Tells Galella: “Inteso Has Never Made An ‘Outstanding Contribution’ To Much

Dover
Township - Ortley Beach civic leader Dan Polifroni has asked
the Italian-American Cultural Society of Ocean County to “withdraw proposed
recognition” of Acting Mayor Carmine Inteso for what the society calls
“outstanding contributions to the community” at the club’s 21st annual
dinner to be held September 27th.
Polifroni’s request comes in the wake of the incident at Trump Marina late
on June 30th where Committeeman John Furey said Inteso grappled with him,
pushed him to the floor and smashed his camera to destroy photos Furey took
of the “Acting” Mayor and an “unidentified female” mentioned in the media.
The incident occurred at a concert by Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes.
Polifroni said he got a copy of a letter from Marc Galella, President of the
Italian-American Cultural group, which solicited ads for a journal and said
Inteso would be honored at the dinner along with two other honorees.
Polifroni
Says Inteso Honor Is “Very Questionable”
In View Of “Low Level Of Credibility”
“While I have no quarrel with the designations of April Yezzi and Ernie
Napolitano, I want to take exception to your very questionable decision to
include Carmine C. Inteso as an honoree”, Polifroni told Galella.
“So far as I can tell, Mr. Inteso has never made an ‘outstanding
contribution’ to much of anything, with the possible exception of his
contribution to the very low level of credibility and lack of respect
currently awarded the local government in Dover Township”, Polifroni said.
“Inteso Has
Further Damaged Local Government’s Reputation”
“Mr. Inteso has been a township committee member less than nine months”,
Polifroni noted, “and all he has done is make the local government’s
reputation even more questionable than it was previously.
“Mr. Inteso’s consistent failure to respect the office he holds is reason
enough for a respected civic organization such as yours to withhold serious
recognition until such time as it is clearly deserved”, the Ortley leader
said.
“As a proud Italian-American, I would respectfully recommend that the
Italian American Cultural Society consider withdrawing the proposed
recognition of Mr. Inteso for obvious and compelling reasons”, Polifroni
concluded.
Galella’s
Firm, By Surprising Coincidence,
Are Attorneys For The Planning Board
Galella is an attorney in the firm of Robert Shea & Associates. Robert Shea
has been the attorney for the Dover Township Planning Board for many years,
and has guided the board’s decisions in the worst period of excessive
development in the Township’s history.
Shea’s firm has been paid more than $1 million by the GOP township
committee. Inteso, a Republican, had himself appointed to the Planning Board
when he became a committee member in January following his election last
year.
Shea is also a prominent fund raiser for the Dover Township Republican
Organization.
