Shut Up And Fix It

Dover Township:
Christie
Whitman says Governor McGreevey should stop criticizing her record of
screwing up nearly every aspect of the state government before she
abandoned her New Jersey constituents, left for Washington and turned
the mess over to “Acting” Governor Donald DiFrancesco and Republican
legislators who made it even worse.
The Asbury
Park Press and others said McGreevey’s criticism was on the mark,
however, and Whitman should expect it to continue because “New Jersey
taxpayers are tired of paying the bills she left behind.”
Whitman’s
dismal record, in part, is as follows:
Illegal And Unconstitutional $2.5 Billion State Budget Deficit
-
Whitman
and DiFrancesco produced an illegal and unconstitutional $2.5
Billion State Budget Deficit. The Star Ledger and other media noted
the state budget was $$$Billions out of balance a month before the
2002 budget year started on July 1, 2001.
-
Whitman’s political patronage operation handed out big salaried jobs
to every Republican job seeker in NJ, wasted hundreds of millions of
dollars and destroyed the morale of thousands of career state
employees in the process.
Massive Increase In The State’s Debt
-
Whitman
and the Republican legislature enacted a massive increase in the
state’s debt, money she squandered in the stock market with losses
of more than $22 BILLION in 22 months. The huge losses plus handing
out inflated pension payments to overpaid political appointees put
the state’s pension system in jeopardy.
-
Whitman’s fiscal mismanagement on the state level set the stage for
enormous local property tax increases, including a probable $30
million annual tax increase in Dover Township and the Toms River
school system over the next several years.
Potential $30 Million Dover Township Tax Increase
-
The
potential $30 Million Dover Township tax increase doesn’t include an
additional $11 million Dover Township tax hike ($55 Million for the
County) which could happen as early as next year because local
agencies will once again have to help fund the state pension system
which Christie mismanaged and nearly bankrupted.
-
Christie
also victimized retired career public employees with an eleventh
hour change in legislation which handed the bulk of pension payment
increases to the same worthless political appointees she hired at
inflated salary and benefit costs.
-
The
Parsons scandals at the DMV have already cost taxpayers $500
million.
-
Whitman’s character assassination of GOP gubernatorial candidate
Brett Schundler cost Dover Township and Ocean County real benefits
that would have derived from a fair discussion of Schundler’s Mt.
Laurel repeal and open space acquisition programs.
Aggravated Over-development And Sprawl
-
Christie’s policies aggravated over-development and sprawl after
promising Dover Township and County residents relief and then doing
nothing for seven years.
-
Made
traffic gridlock worse all over the state, especially Ocean County,
because she had no transportation program, except to allow excessive
development to enrich developers expected to make hefty
contributions to GOP candidates backed by her and her hopeless
replacement, “Acting” Governor Donald DiFrancesco.
Excessive Political Patronage, Selfishness
And Unrestrained Greed
It is
difficult to find a single department of state government that was not
corrupted and damaged by Whitman-DiFrancesco extravagance and
excessive political patronage, selfishness and unrestrained greed and
profligacy and a lavish waste of taxpayer’s money. |
