Former “Mayor” Fox  Made The Taxpayers Pay Twice (As Much As $12,416 Each) For Two Costly Health Insurance Policies, While 2.5 Million New Jersey Residents Had No Health Insurance At All - Because They Can’t Afford It

Eight Years Of Duplicate Health Benefits To Satisfy Double Dip Greed Of Resigned Committee Member Cost Taxpayers An Extra $75,000 ($150,000 Total) Despite Fox’s “Fiscal Conservatism” Pledge

Dover Township:  OceanCountyPolitics•Com has learned that township taxpayers, many of whom can’t afford any health coverage at all, wasted more than $75,000 paying twice for expensive health benefits former Mayor Raymond Fox didn’t even need.

Fox, who resigned when other members of the Committee discovered he was living in Cape May, got a free Blue Cross-Blue Shield policy as an employee of the school system, health benefits that continued after he retired.

While the taxpayers continue to foot the bill for the school system policy, Fox was also helping himself to a second expensive ($12,416 in 2002) health coverage as a member of the Township Committee.

It’s difficult for taxpayers to imagine a more complete waste of public funds than paying for a second medical coverage when they are already paying through the nose for the first one but, in Mayor Fox’s case, that’s exactly what happened - for more than eight years.

Fox Ripped Off The Taxpayers For More Than Eight Years

Fox should have refused the second coverage since the taxpayers who elected him were already paying for the first one, but the second policy, for another $10,000 or more, was billed each year to the same taxpayers.

Health Insurance is the largest single item in most annual municipal budgets.

Total Cost Nearly $150,000, Of Which $75,000
Was Wasted On Fox’s Double Dip Greed

Total cost of the double dip benefits in Fox’s nearly nine years on the township committee is estimated at nearly $150,000, of which more than $75,000 was completely wasted for the second coverage that Fox didn’t need, but was greedy enough to grab anyway.

It is estimated that over 2.5 million New Jersey taxpayers are without any health coverage at all (140,000 in Ocean County, 28,000 in Dover Twp.): one need not wonder how they would feel paying for more than eight years to subsidize the greed of former Mayor Fox to waste taxpayers money on two full paid health coverages, one of which he didn’t even need.

Greedy Fox Campaigned Against Wasting Money
As He Ripped Off The Taxpayers

Fox, a Republican who campaigned against wasting public funds as he was helping himself to the extra $10,000 medical coverage, continued to call himself a “fiscal conservative”.

Fox’s double dip health coverage scam was never questioned by fellow township committee members who apparently knew about the abuse but did nothing to stop it.

Doing nothing were Clarence Aldrich, Jerry Geoghegan, Marilyn Brett and Mark Mutter, all self styled Republican “fiscal conservatives”, and Democrats John Russo Jr. and John Furey, both of whom have made numerous statements claiming they oppose “wasteful” spending.
