Jorge Rod
What A Phoney!
Former Administrator, Former Mayor, Former Assemblyman Jorge Rod Wants
Lacey Township To Repay Him $22,160 Of The $29,000 He Agreed To
Reimburse the Town As Part Of Embezzlement Plea Bargain! Convicted
Embezzler Rod Aslo Want $18,000 Severance Package He Didn't Get When
He Was Fired For Stealing From Township Taxpayers!
Lacey Township:
Former Administrator Jorge
Rod, who admitted to embezzling $29,000 from the taxpayers, has filed
a lawsuit against Lacey Township to regain some of the money he agreed
to pay as part of his plea bargain.
The case surfaced nearly
three years ago when Chief Financial Officer John Adams, now township
administrator, discovered that $29, 500 in township checks recorded to
a Toms River printing firm, were actually sent to Rod's post office
box and deposited in Rod's commercial checking account under the name
of " Printing Is Our Business".
As part of the Plea bargain
where Rod was sentenced to an up to four year jail term, the former
mayor and assemblyman agreed to pay the $29, 500 back to the Township.
Now Rod wants $22,160 of
the repayment money back, claiming that Printing Is Our Business
furnished services in that value to Lacey for those checks.
It is not clear how Rod
suddenly came up with these newly surfaced printing purchase orders to
cover the bogus services he was imprisoned for lying about rendering.
How can he now pretend that these monies were actually earned by him?
If he was innocent of embezzlement how is it he just got out of prison
for that crime?
Rod Also Wants $18,000
Severance Package
Another part of Rod's new
lawsuit is a demand that Lacey township come up with an $18,000
employee severance package he did not get when he was fired by the
township committee after Adams caught his $29,500. embezzlement!
The odds that the township
will agree to pay Rod any of the money in question are about the same
as the sun coming up in the West any time soon.
