Another (The Third) Misleading GOP Campaign Flier Uncovered By OCPolitics•Com Campaign Police

Third Misleading And Inaccurate Campaign Flier In Two Weeks Is Mailed To Unsuspecting GOP Voters By Haines And Clement

Latest Misleading Flier, The Third In A Row, Makes The Astounding Claim That Candidates Haines And Fiure “Have A Plan” To Curb Massive Overdevelopment Promoted By Their Own Sponsors

Dover Township - Another GOP campaign flier that takes serious liberties with the truth has surfaced in Dover Township.
In the latest mailer, published by Republican boss Richard Clement and paid for by the Ocean County GOP Finance Committee, candidates Virginia Haines and Michael Fiure claim they have a plan to curb serious overdevelopment aggravated by Clement, Haines, developers’ lawyer and party chairman Joseph Coronato, and developers’ engineer and School Board member Frank Sadeghi.

Last Year, Haines, Clement And Sadeghi Helped Kill Development Curbs

Haines, Clement and Sadeghi last year helped kill the only serious plan ever presented to curb over-development by acquiring sufficient open space to take sensitive real estate, the developers’ raw materials, off the table and put it in the public domain.
As the open space plan was killed, and progress on the issue was stonewalled, the local GOP looked the other way as big money Republican land owners pushed for approvals on such applications as JAMM Realty and Home Depot.
The result was the developer-friendly GOP leadership succeeded only in hiking the prices taxpayers will now pay for a woefully inadequate amount of open space acquisition.
A coincident problem is a series of school tax and municipal tax increases which are almost certain to occur because of the staggering failure of Haines, Clement, Sadeghi and others to confront over-development two years ago when the problem was infinitely more manageable.
The new flier gave no details on the Haines-Fiure overdevelopment “plan”.

Haines’ Resumé Cited Girl Scout Dinner “Award”, But Omitted 12 Year Sewer Agency Career

Clarence Aldrich

The first questionable GOP flier appeared two weeks ago with a Haines resumé which included an award she received at a Girl Scout dinner, but omitted her 12 year career at the local sewer authority.
Haines’ DMUA tenure culminated this year in a $6.5 Million current year operating deficit, and a scurvy deal where Haines was appointed to the Township Committee as a replacement for “Mayor” Clarence Aldrich who was paid off with a pension scam “Superintendent” job at the sewer agency.
The second flier which offended the truth was sponsored by Clement and developers’ attorney Harvey York.
The flier claimed transition to a new government with an elected mayor, on the ballot in the November election, would cost $1.5 Million, a claim for which no one has presented a scrap of evidence.
Supporters of the change, however, have said the voters, if they support the change and then elect a Mayor and Council who will eliminate more than $2 Million in spending caused by political deals, party patronage and payroll padding, the cost of the new government could go down, not up.
It remains to be seen, however, if 11,000 Republican voters, who control most elections in Dover Township, will believe or disbelieve Clement’s misleading and inaccurate campaign fliers.
