To Be Outdone By A String Of Factually Challenged GOP Campaign

Otherwise Clever Flier, Compiled By Democratic Boss And Strategist

OCPolitics•Com Campaign Police Also Stumble On Fifth Misleading GOP
Campaign Flier
Dover Township:
The latest Democratic flier promoting candidates Thomas Rodgers and
Richard Larsen, makes points about overdevelopment and traffic without
giving any details or presenting a real program, but some of the
points are valid criticisms of a GOP administration that is very long
on political posturing and very short on performance.
Prepared by Democratic strategist Jack Moriarty, the flier is a
postcard size package, a folded piece that unfolds to a series of
cartoons and short statements nearly three feet in length. It deserves
high marks for originality: It is a clever departure from the usual
campaign flier.
But its potential effectiveness is killed dead because its first
representation is as follows: “A group called the ‘Posse’ took over
and controlled the town for 22 years”.
“Posse” Never Appeared Until 2001
It is reasonable to ask why the voters should believe anything the
flier says, when every Democrat and Republican who reads the
newspapers knows the “Posse”, far from “controlling the town for 22
years”, never made its first pathetic appearance in Toms River until
after the 2001 election.
Then, in a simpering fuzzball of ineptitude and greed and one hand
washing the other, they got themselves into deep political trouble,
went underground and self destructed. There was no 22 years; not even
one year.
Even gullible Democratic voters do not like to be lied to, especially
when the inexactitudes are so easily discredited and so easily
exposed. So why would the Democrats spend all that money just to
discredit themselves with transparent lies?
Fifth Flier Distributed By
Dover Republicans Suggests
Again That GOP Politicians Who Caused Massive
Over-Development Are Also The Ones Who Can Stop It
The fifth Republican flier to take liberties with the truth suggests
again that politicians who can “stop overdevelopment” are the ones who
caused it in the first place. If this claim is believed again by
Republican voters who bought the same idiotic logic last year, they
deserve exactly what they get.
Watch Out For Haines-Clement Tax Increase Coming
Next Year
This preposterous claim gets equal time with an equally preposterous
prior representation by candidate Virginia Haines, who voted recently
for a township budget with a spending increase so substantial and a
potential deficit so big that a tax increase of major significance is
guaranteed for next year.
Catch 22
Haines is also promising (flier #3) that she will “lower property
taxes”, an impossible-to-keep promise concocted by Republican boss
Richard Clement. In other words, the voters can get lower taxes by
electing candidates who made higher taxes inevitable.
Regarding the “Posse”, it’s about time somebody named names like the
Asbury Park Press suggested, and spelled out who they are and what
they wanted before they self destructed as an organized group in a
sweaty display of political greed and non-criminal violations of basic
common sense. (10/15/02)
