Part I - In Brick, John Barrett Mixes It
Up With Max The Puppet, But Ignores The Scarpelli Administration
Former GOP Mayoral Candidate
John Barrett, With No Bricktown Election To Foul Up, Attacks Max The Puppet,
Who Is Running For Mayor In Dover Township
Brick Township: Max the Puppet, a non-partisan candidate
running for Mayor in Dover Township under the slogan, "Get A Puppet For
Mayor", has come under vicious personal attack from former Brick Mayoral
candidate John Barrett.

OceanCountyPolitics•Com
Editor, Richard Schiff |
In a mean spirited letter to the Asbury Park Press, the full text of which
is included in the OceanCountyPolitics•Com letter section, Mr.
Barrett singled out Max as “made up- imagery” and also attacked
OceanCountyPolitics•Com editor, Richard Schiff.
Schiff, a totally innocent citizen who has never even set foot in Brick Town
Hall, was assaulted by Barrett's poison pen as using “his distorted views
via hurtful personal attacks”, a shocking departure from the plain truth.
Barrett also complained that OceanCountyPolitics•Com coverage
emphasized Dover Township, and did not give Brick Township the attention it
"deserved".
No Brick Election This Year
OceanCountyPolitics•Com has learned during a short investigation that
there was no local election in Brick this year, a fact that has been
verified by recent geiger counter measurements of the relatively low level
of bragging and posturing from Brick Town Hall recently.
The political inactivity (and hence the coverage) in Brick is also reflected
in the near total absence of loyal opposition activity in Bricktown, where
Mr. Barrett, the titular leader of the opposition party, wants to be a
candidate in the enormously important council elections for which candidates
will be fielded in a little over four months.
Brick Council Control Will Be Contested
Control of the Bricktown Council will be up for grabs, as four of the seven
council seats will be contested and, if the issues are any indication,
assuming Mr. Barrett and other Republicans wake up sooner than they did when
Barrett was the mayoral candidate last year, Republicans could grab all four
seats and take control four to three.
This would give the GOP an equal voice on many aspects of the Brick local
government, particularly in the preparation of the annual budget, which
dictates the tax rate.
Would Hold Scarpelli Hostage To GOP Policies
|

Brick Township Mayor
Joseph Scarpelli |
Mr. Barrett has complained about "spending" and "tax increases" but has
never made OceanCountyPolitics•Com aware of a single specific
recommendation about budget cuts in spending plans of the administration of
Democratic Mayor Joseph Scarpelli.
Instead, Barrett turns his attention to a puppet who, unlike the Scarpelli
administration, has never done a thing to injure good public policy.

Coming Soon On OceanCountyPolitics•Com: Bricktown Part II: More about
the Barrett attacks on Max, taxes and spending and nepotism and bad planning
and political payoffs and the dismal loyal opposition, where the only thing
worse than the performance level of the Scarpelli administration is the
quality of the Republican opposition.
