Who’s Going To Protect The Consumers From The Consumer Protection Director?

At A Time When 48 Million Americans Are Without Any Health Insurance At All, Former Berkeley Mayor And County Consumer “Protection” Director Ken Leake Has Two Expensive Policies, Both Of Them Paid For In Part By Ocean County Residents Who Can’t Afford To Get Health Insurance For Themselves.

Berkeley Township: The public official who has taken a solemn oath of office to protect Ocean County consumers has been systematically ripping off the consumers he was appointed to protect.

Kenneth Leake, former mayor of Berkeley Township and Ocean County’s Consumer Protection Director, has for the past four years been making consumers pay double for the Health Insurance benefits he gets from two government agencies for free.

Many Victims Of The Leake Scam Can’t Afford Health Insurance

As they pay twice for Leake’s two expensive duplicate medical coverages, many of these same consumers are unable to afford even minimum health insurance coverage for themselves.

What is worse, “Director” Leake, who is in charge of the county’s program to expose consumer abuses and go public with them, has never once advised the public he has been committing a costly consumer scam himself.

As County Consumer Affairs Chief, Leake gets free health coverage which costs Ocean County taxpayers $5379.84 annually.

OCUA Plunders Consumers Leake Is Paid To “Protect”

And, even worse, Director Leake has allowed the source of his second free health coverage medical policy scam, the Ocean County Utilities Authority, to further plunder the very consumers he is supposed to be protecting.

The OCUA, with Leake’s enthusiastic assistance, has given Ocean County consumers the highest county sewer rate in New Jersey.

Leake’s second health policy, from the OCUA, cost Ocean County consumers an extra $5889.72 this year.

License To Steal??

Leake’s licentious little scam is something that would strike 99% of Ocean County consumers as an abomination and a disgrace and as a license to steal.

From any public official, the scam would be a travesty.

But coming from the Consumer Affairs Director, the one public official in the county who, by definition, should be emphasizing consumer protection, he turns out to be one of the few officials who is greedy and indifferent enough to be ripping off the very consumers he is being paid big money to help.

Leake is the seventh public official uncovered by OceanCountyPolitics•Com who has been scamming the taxpayers via the double dip health coverage rip-off. The others are lottery queens Virginia Haines and Carole Hedinger; Carole’s husband, Len; Dover Township GOP Boss and Mrs. R. C. Clement, and former Dover Township Mayor Raymond Fox.

The double dip Clement scam is costing Dover Township taxpayers more than $12,500 extra each year, as Boss and Mrs. Clement rip off taxpayers and ratepayers at the Township and the Dover Municipal Utilities Authority
