Democrats Failed To Get Big Margin Because "Doctor" Moriarty’s Campaign Reduced His Own Candidates Nearly To The Level Of Cranks

Despite Ample Assistance From Republican Public Policy Disasters, Haines And Clement Raids On Public Treasury, Huge Spending Increases And Plethora Of GOP Campaign Lies, Moriarty Democrats Only Elected One Candidate - Then Tried To Blame Their Failures On Senator John Russo

Crank Level

Senator John
Russo Sr.

Moriarty Blamed Him For Rodgers Loss

Dover: Democratic Party Boss and publicist “Doctor” Jack Moriarty’s failure to win two seats on the Dover Township Committee has enormous implications for the community and for the future of the Democratic Party.

The two Democrat candidates, Tom Rodgers and Harold R. Larsen were reduced to the status of near cranks in the eyes of many voters, especially traditional Republicans, many of whom, thoroughly disgusted with the likes of GOP Boss R. C. Clement, Virginia Haines and their greedy little group of political parasites, would have been happy to vote for more independent minded Democrats.

Moriarty Democrats Ignored Big Issues
Handed To Them By Bumbling Republicans

Boss Clement & Virginia Haines
tried repeatedly to hand the Dems the
election, but Moriarty and his little group
of followers still managed to lose one seat

The Democrats had numerous issues that were handed to them by the Republican “administration”, including a township budget adopted only a few weeks before the election that included a huge spending increase that was hidden by an equally huge appropriation from vital reserves that temporarily papered over a big tax increase.

Moriarty Won’t Turn Over Campaign Fliers

If cult-like hero worship is suspended, Moriarty gets very jittery; the current reluctance about producing a complete collection of 2002 Democratic campaign literature derives from his nervousness about which fliers are already in the hands of the OceanCountyPolitics•Com Campaign Police.

Another problem about handing over the campaign literature is that Moriarty took a chance and published at least one world class lie, and he is afraid of the inevitability of discovery if anybody examines his publications in detail, a contingency which would turn a libel lawsuit filed by Larsen and Rodgers against the GOP into an absurdity.

Democrats Could Have Gotten A Larger Share Of GOP Vote

If the Democrats had used the budget issues to criticize the GOP, many Republicans, sick of being lied to, would have voted for them.

But the Democrats were inexplicably silent on budget issues, and also failed to capitalize on GOP incompetence and political payoffs regarding overdevelopment (JAMM Realty, Home Depot, Bey Lea Fairways, Affordable Housing etc.), Law Department, Road Department payroll padding and a wide variety of public policy failures that have resulted in an almost total lack of credibility in the township government.

Both Democrats Should Have Won By 1500 Votes

The result was that Harold R. Larsen was the only Moriarty cult candidate to win in an election both Democrats should have won by at least 1500 votes - and even Larsen’s margin (about 440 votes over lottery golden parachute recipient Virginia Haines) was tiny by normal standards.

Lack Of Moriarty Credibility Produced Very
Close Election: Russo Jr. Is In Catbird’s Seat

The result was a very close election which should have been a runaway Democratic victory with two Democratic winners instead of one.

Committeeman
John Russo Jr.

The Moriarty cult followers had their big chance to grab the brass ring, and they blew it.

Rodgers’ defeat now puts Democratic Committeeman John Russo Jr. in a position to reduce Moriarty’s cult-inspired power even before it begins to infect township policies with wacky spending initiatives for an agenda that only the most uninhibited Democrats could even begin to embrace.

Moriarty Needs Russo’s Third Vote,
But He And Russo Don’t Get Along

Moriarty needs Russo’s third vote to get anything done without Republican help not likely to be forthcoming without assurances that greedy GOP patronage hogs will be taken care of by the new Democratic administration.

Paranoid And Potentially Destructive

And the problem will continue in the future, because Moriarty is possibly the most paranoid and potentially destructive politician in either party.

He surrounds himself with drone no-talent hero worshipers, most of whom have never had an original idea and have no identifiable talent for running a government, but they are eager to be programmed by Moriarty: John Doctor Township Committeeman Furey is AK#1; Committeeman-elect Harold R. Larsen is AK#2; Candidate Tom Rodgers is AK#3; Chairman and First Deputy Toady Jeff Horn is AK#4, Chief Moriarty Clone Christopher Colavito is AK#5, etc., etc.                    (for 12/04/02)
