May Not Nominate Furey: Democrat Intramural Brawl Raises New Questions About
Credibility Of Local Government In Dover Township
|

Vice President
John N. Garner
|
Dover Township: Vice President John N. Garner once described
the Vice-Presidency as having the value of “a bucket of warm spit”. That is
also the value of the less-than-worthless bogus office of appointed “Mayor”
in Dover Township.
It is becoming more apparent every day that voters were right to approve the
change of government here, because the current crop of elected officials,
now all lame ducks because their terms will all expire when the new
government is sworn in, absolutely refuses to address the major issues
facing the community.
Committee Does Nothing About Overdevelopment,
Traffic Gridlock, Open Space
In response to urgent problems of overdevelopment, open space acquisition,
and traffic gridlock, the township committee has done nothing but make
matters worse.
Now the Asbury Park Press reports that a “schism” in the ranks of the new
Democratic three person majority that may make it difficult for the local
government to do business.
“Doctor” Moriarty At Center Of Controversy:
He And Furey Demand Russo Jr.’s Resignation
|

John Russo Jr. |
At the center of the controversy is “Doctor” Jack Moriarty, the self styled
political cult leader who is the ultimate control freak. Moriarty tried to
give orders to Sen. John Russo and his son, Township Committeeman John Russo
Jr. about appointments and policies designed to enhance Moriarty’s influence
and further wreck the local government, but the Russos apparently have
ambitions of their own.
Reorganization Meeting May Have Added Entertainmant Value
Hence a Democratic brawl that could add considerable entertainment value to
the township reorganization meeting which is scheduled for 6pm tomorrow
(Thursday) January 2nd in the committee meeting room on the second floor at
town hall. Moriarty has apparently demanded that Russo Jr. resign his
committee seat. Whether Moriarty will appear at the reorganization meeting
to make his resignation demand in person is doubtful, however, although
public comment will be permitted towards the end of the meeting.
Sen. Russo Not Allowed To Sit At Leader Moriarty’s Table
|

John Russo Sr. |
“I have never, never been allowed to sit at the table, so to speak,” Sen.
Russo told the Press of Moriarty’s exclusionary policies. The Senator also
cited “other local Democratic leaders” aligned with Moriarty, apparently
including Municipal Chairman Jeffrey Horn (left), who accused the Russos after the
November election of causing the defeat of candidate Thomas Rodgers.
The Senator accused Moriarty and Horn of “playing a heavy game of chicken;
John won’t blink”, he said.
Moriarty and Township Committeeman “Doctor” John Furey, who Russo Jr.
previously said he would nominate for Mayor, said the younger Russo did not
support the Larsen-Rodgers campaign with sufficient intensity to suit them,
and Russo Jr. withdrew a previous commitment to support Furey as the
township’s last phoney appointed bogus “Mayor” when the township government
reorganizes.
Moriarty Says Furey Will Be The Democrat Mayoral Candidate
Moriarty also said he and the other twelve cult followers that make up the
local Democratic organization have already decided that Furey, recently
returned from a South American vacation after missing the two most important
committee meetings of 2002, would be the party’s nominee for Mayor in
November, thus eliminating any untidiness that might occur if rank and file
Democrats were consulted about the Democratic ticket.
The Press speculated that Russo Jr. might form an alliance with the two lame
duck Republicans still on the Committee, and allow himself to be appointed
“Mayor”, so he could be the last bogus “Mayor” under the lame duck township
committee, and preside over the additional wreckage that is sure to occur as
2003 progresses.
Lots and lots more on former Mayor-Designate Furey’s apparent near-neurotic
desire to be part of the OCPolitics Top Ten Worst Public Officials
list as time marches on. (for 1/01/03)
