Russo Says Township Has “A Tight Budget” After Learning Budget Increase Was The Largest In Township History

Dover Township: Township committee members continued to distort important public information as “Mayor” John Russo Jr. and Committeeman “Doctor” John Furey appeared on Bob Levy’s Sunday morning TOPIC “A” show on radio station WOBM.

Furey got the ball rolling with a claim that he and Russo, as minority members of the government in 2001 and 2002, “set up an agenda to stop overdevelopment and traffic gridlock”, a claim that is simply not true.

The truth, of course, is that Furey and Russo never advanced any clear program to stop overdevelopment or traffic gridlock, and that is one of the big reasons that overdevelopment and traffic gridlock continue to get worse in Dover Township.

In fact, Furey adamantly refused even to listen to the only viable program ever presented to deal with excessive growth.

What A Phoney: Furey Says Personal Lives “Should Be Left Out”, Then Rehashes Inteso Atlantic City Southside Johnny Camera Smashing Incident

There were numerous other distortions aired on the show, but perhaps the worst hypocrisy surfaced when Furey was asked by Levy about the Atlantic City incident on June 30th of last year where Furey and former GOP “Mayor” Carmine Inteso showed up in separate parties at a Southside Johnny concert at Trump Marina, and Furey embarrassed Inteso by snapping his picture dancing with what came to be known in local press reports as “an unidentified female.”

According to Furey, Inteso assaulted him, wrestled him to the floor, stole his camera, smashed it in front of him and destroyed the pictures. Furey charged Inteso with assault and destroying his camera, but Inteso, who had no comment for weeks, eventually signed out counter charges against Furey.

The two combatants ended up going back to Atlantic City to withdraw the charges in court, ending the incident.

Democratic Chairman Horn Accuses Senator And Son Of Being “Traitors”

The Levy show also featured a call from Democratic Municipal Chairman Jeffrey Horn, who has accused Russo Jr. and his father, former Sen. John Russo Sr.,  of being “traitors” to the objectives of the Democratic Club run by Furey’s alter ego and mentor, publicist and local Boss “Doctor” Jack Moriarty. Horn says Russo Jr. “demanded absolute veto power” over all appointments and policies as the price of his help.

Republi-Crats Will Continue Holzapfel’s $6667 Monthly Checks

Horn criticized Russo for reappointing Republican Assemblyman James Holzapfel as “labor counsel” (Holzapfel gets a check every month for $6667), and for trying to appoint Russo Senior’s firm as second labor counsel after Russo Jr. claimed he was only interested in working for the people of Dover Township. (The labor counsel budget appropriation is a paltry $160,000, and some say at least $120,000 of this is wasted).

Russo Jr. became the appointed “mayor” when he jumped the Democrat ship and got Republican votes from Inteso and Michael Fiure.

Chairman Horn “Physically Assaulted My Father On Election Night; These Are Bad Guys”, Russo Jr. Says

Russo Jr. countered Horn’s allegations by repeating a charge that Horn had “assaulted” his father after berating the elder Russo for “causing the defeat” of candidate Thomas Rodgers with a “bullet vote campaign” against the lone Democrat loser in the November election. According to Russo Jr., Horn “physically assaulted my father on election night”.

“These are bad guys”, Russo Jr. said.

Rodgers Lost Because He Let Moriarty Run His Campaign

The Democrats should have won by at least 1500 votes because the unelected Republican “administration” made a bad joke out of the local government every week for the entire year. With a plethora of major issues which could easily have devastated the GOP, Moriarty and his rubber stamp candidates put together a pathetically weak campaign effort.
