Part III: “Doctor” Furey Leaves Town
Again - Democratic Candidate For Mayor Misses Three Straight Meetings
Clueless Furey Now Has The Worst Attendance
Record On The Township Committee: Blows Off Three Straight This Time On
Another Extended Vacation While The Same Old Issues Go Begging
Dilettante Furey Also Missed Two
Important Committee Meetings Last December For Vacation In South America And
Texas - Returned To Find Political Landscape Changed And Massive Problems
Still Present
Dover Township:
The township government is still in trouble,
but in important ways, the two Democrats on the township committee don’t
seem to care.
Richard Larsen, the accountant who was put in
charge of the local government finances, has not yet made a report on his
efforts to find ways to cut the new township budget for the fiscal year
starting July 1st.
And “Doctor” John Furey, the chiropractor
turned politician who promised to give unfailing devotion to his township
committee responsibilities, now has the worst attendance record on the
committee after blowing off three straight township committee meetings on
another extended vacation.
Missed Three Straight, Including Iraqi
Freedom Recognition Meeting
Instead of attending to the public business,
Furey took off on vacation again, and missed the township committee meeting
of Wednesday, April 23rd.
A week later, still apparently out of town, he
blew off the township committee meeting of Tuesday, April 29th.
He also managed to miss the township committee
meeting of Wednesday, April 30th, a meeting that featured a rally in support
of the men and women of the armed forces who courageously represented Dover
Township and Ocean County in operation Iraqi Freedom.
AWOL For 2002’s Two Most Important Meetings
Furey’s
latest round of no-show absenteeism is reminiscent of his failure to attend
what arguably were the two most important township committee meetings of
2002.
Instead of sticking around to help organize
the local government for the vital year of preparation for transition to a
new form of government selected by the voters on referendum last November,
Furey took off for South America and wasn’t around for two critical December
township committee meetings.
Furey, Democratic Candidate For Mayor, Not
Just Any Lame Duck
|

Max The Puppet
More Qualified? |
Furey’s
failure to attend important meetings would be bad enough in any lame duck
public official who no longer has any real interest in the township.
But Furey is the candidate for mayor of the
local Democratic organization, picked by Democratic boss “Doctor” Jack
Moriarty to lead the Democratic ticket in the most important election in the
township’s history.
It is not known whether Moriarty endorsed
Furey’s latest decision to leave town because Moriarty has not commented
publicly on Furey’s poor attendance record.
“Doctor” Furey’s Absenteeism Disconcerting
To Democratic Rank And File?
“Doctor” Furey’s habit of leaving town when
the town needs a full compliment of public officials to transact the public
business must be disconcerting to rank and file Democrats, as well as the
independent voters Furey is going to need if he is to have any chance of
winning the November election.
It is not known how Furey’s running mates, the
seven Democratic candidates for town council, feel about their mayoralty
candidate’s poor attendence record.
OCPolitics
Editor Has Better Attendance Record Than Furey
It is somewhat disconcerting, as will as
disappointing that the editor of this WebSite has a better attendance record
at township committee meetings for the past six months than the Democratic
candidate for Mayor, a factor that should give additional encouragement to
Max The Puppet, a candidate who apparently is more serious than Furey about
running for office.

and irrepressibility of time. (for 5/07/03)
