Gilmore Says If You Believe Potter, “You Have To Believe In The Tooth Fairy”
Dover
Township: The Board Chairman and Legislative Chairman of the New
Jersey Chiropractic Society has demanded a “clarification” of information
that was printed on our WebSite to the effect that a member of the
Society “encouraged support of a candidate with a last minute smear
campaign”.
Steven G. Clarke DC, said “although I have
never met and have no relationship to Dr. John Furey mentioned in other
parts of your site, I assume this was directed towards him as he was
intimately involved in the election”.
Dr. Clarke Said Furey Is Not
A Member Of Chiropractic Society
Dr. Clarke said Furey, a chiropractor, “is not
a member and has no relationship” with the New Jersey Chiropractic Society.
In a previous article, OCP reported
“the election campaign featured a last minute attempt by a group of
Teamsters Union members, led by Democratic County Chairman Fred Potter and
one member of the New Jersey Chiropractor’s Association (Furey) to support
(Van) Speirs with a last minute smear campaign attacking Russo.”
OCP: We Got The Name Wrong By A Word - And
We Assumed “Doctor” Furey Was A Member
Dr. Clarke is absolutely correct: we got the
name of his organization wrong, and we assumed “Doctor” Furey was a member
of the representative Chiropractic organization in New Jersey. We were wrong
twice. We should have checked and we didn’t. Our apologies to Dr. Clarke and
the Society.
Russo Jr. defeated Speirs by a wide margin to
win the Republican Party nomination to run for mayor in the change of
government election, and will face Democrat Furey and independent Paul Brush
in November.
Three Separate Mailings To
Republican
Voters May Have Cost $25,000
Three separate mailings to Republican voters
and a weekend negative telephone effort, estimated to cost $25,000 by
Republican leaders, linked Russo to Democratic governor James McGreevey and
suggested Russo was “the devil” complete with demonic horned photo.
Furey’s “Poll” Part Of
Anti-Russo Smear Campaign?
Furey released a “poll”, supposedly completed
in January, which, he said, showed Russo Jr. left the Democratic party
because he (Furey) would have beaten Russo by 15 points in a Democratic
primary election.
Republican leaders suggested Furey’s $4500
“poll” was released as an organized part of the attack campaign by Potter
and the Teamster group which has offices in Washington DC.
The International Brotherhood Of Teamsters
office in Washington DC, where a staff member, Todd Thompson, is listed as
an organizer of “Voters For Responsible government”, the smear group
attacking Russo, said yesterday the Teamsters were “not involved” in the
attack effort.

GOP Chairman
George Gilmore |
Gilmore: To Believe Potter,
“You Have To Believe In The Tooth Fairy”
Democrat County Chairman Fred Potter, an
officer in the New Jersey Teamsters political action committee, also denied
any knowledge of the teamsters anti-Russo attack fliers, a disavowal which
Ocean County GOP Chairman George Gilmore described as absurd.
To believe there is no connection between
teamster official Potter and the teamster-led Dover Township smear campaign
against Russo, “you have to believe in the tooth fairy”, Gilmore told the
Asbury Park Press.
Who Dunnit? Part VI will include more on these
issues, a post mortem on the primary election and the latest facts emerging
from the clumsy Democrat/Teamster effort to bend and batter the election
laws in their bungled attempt to intrude on the GOP primary election.
