Harbor Township Will Become New 9th District Assemblyman

Township: Assemblyman Jeff Moran (R-9th District) is now Ocean
County Surrogate Jeff Moran, appointed to fill the vacancy that was created
last year by the death of Surrogate Franklin Fischer.
Moran was sworn in as Surrogate by Judge
Eugene Serpentelli. Surrogate Moran will be the Republican candidate for a
full five year term in November’s general election.
Except For His Own Election, Surrogate
Stays Out Of Politics
Except for his own election campaign, the
Surrogate, a constitutional officer, is prohibited from taking an active
role in politics. Moran resigned from the State Assembly prior to his
appointment as Surrogate.
He is a resident of Beachwood and is a former
member of the Beachwood Planning Board and the Ocean County Utilities
Authority.
Moran A Thoughtful And Attentive Legislator
Moran developed a reputation as a thoughtful
and attentive legislator as part of the Connors-Moran-Connors 9th District
team, one of the most influential district legislative delegations in New
Jersey.
Moran’s replacement on the 9th District
legislative ticket will be Mayor Brian Rumpf of Little Egg Harbor Township.
Mayor Rumpf Instrumental In L.E.H. Open
Space Program
Rumpf is
expected to be appointed to Moran’s assembly seat at a Republican county
committee meeting Thursday.
He will be sworn in the next time the assembly
is in session, according to Republican County Chairman George Gilmore.
As a Township Committeeman and Mayor, Rumpf
was at the forefront of developing Little Egg Harbor’s open space
acquisition program, and is the chairman of the committee charged with
acquiring open space for the community.
Juris
Doctor Degree From Washington & Lee University
Mayor Rumpf is an attorney.
He earned his Juris Doctor degree from
Washington & Lee University School Of Law in 1989. He and his wife, Deborah
Rumpf, also an attorney, have a law practice on Radio Road in Little Egg.
