Brush Says Political
Signs Left Over From The Primary Election Are An Eyesore And
Constitute “Sign Pollution”; He Releases Statement Criticizing
Township Committee Members For “Selective Enforcement”
“It Is Wrong For The
Politicians To Put Their Campaign Signs On Public Property Paid For By
The Taxpayers”, Says Independent Mayoral Candidate
Dover Township:
Independent Mayoral candidate Paul Brush
said “take ‘em down”, and within 48 hours, nearly all of the political
signs left over from the primary election were nowhere to be seen.
Even if Brush were elected Mayor, he
would probably not have that kind of power but, in this instance, the
signs came down.
After Two Weeks, Signs Were Still Up
Brush complained that “two weeks have
passed since the primary election and we still have to look at
campaign signs all over town”.
He complained that “it is also wrong for
the politicians to place their campaign signs on public property paid
for the taxpayers.”
Selective Code
Enforcement?
Brush cited Winding River Park as an
example of “selective code enforcement”.
A team of inspectors from the
OceanCountyPolitics sign police took to the streets shortly before
Brush’s complaint, and found that numerous signs were, indeed, still
around from both parties.
The Republican signs mentioned all of
the GOP candidates as if they were proud of their ticket; most of the
GOP signs were on private property where, presumably, they had
permission of the owners to put them.
Nevertheless, they should have been
taken down right after the election.
The Democrat signs, pushing the “Furey
Team”, whatever that is, included dozens of examples on public
rights-of-way, a contingency which was, and is, flagrantly illegal,
whenever the campaign signs are put up or taken down.
The Most Flagrantly
Illegal Sign Ever Installed In Dover Township?

Mayoral
Candidate
"Doctor"
John Furey |
The Democrat “Furey Team” signs included
the most flagrantly illegal sign ever installed in Dover Township, a
double sided little item which was planted directly in front of the
Toms River Diner, in the middle of the triangular relief segment smack
in the entrance to the Washington Street jughandle, the most public
right-of-way in Toms River.
How Can They Be
Expected To Govern
And Enforce Code Regulations?
If the “Furey Team” does not know things
like this are illegal, how can they be expected to govern the town and
enforce code regulations?
Brush Says “YES TEAM”
Is The Answer
The answer, Brush says, is to elect the
YES! (Your Election Slate) independent team in the upcoming November
Change of Government election.
“I can assure the residents that next
year my administration will not permit selective code enforcement”,
Brush stated. 6/23/03
