Korean War Veterans To Be Honored At Berkeley's July 8th Summer Concert Series Event

Mayor Jason Varano Asks All Korean War Veterans To Register For Event At Town Hall

Encourages All Residents To Honor Veterans

Berkeley Township: Mayor Jason J. Varano and former Veterans Of Foreign Wars State Commander Don Marshall are pleased to announce a Korean War Veterans Recognition Ceremony on Tuesday, July 8th, at Veterans Park.

This ceremony will take place along with the scheduled concert by the 63rd Army Band beginning at 6:00 pm.

This year marks the 50th Anniversary of the end of the Korean War. “The actual anniversary is not until July 25th to the 27th,” said Varano, “but we feel the appearance of the 63rd Army Band is consistent with the patriotic tone of the celebration.

From 1950 to 1953, one-and-a-half million Americans served the cause of liberty and democracy under the United Nations flag, in Korea. Of these, 131 received the Congressional Medal of Honor, our Nations highest honor for combat bravery.

Varano added: “Korean War Veterans are asked to bring their DD214 discharge papers to the Township Clerk’s Office or the Mayor’s Office. They will be invited to complete a “Korean War Veterans Recognition Form” so they can be acknowledged by a grateful community at the ceremony.”

Washington, D.C.

“We ask all Berkeley Township residents to please join us in honoring all veterans, particularly our Korean War Veterans.” Varano said.

For more information, please call Berkeley Town Hall at 732-244-7400.

This is a chance to show our gratitude for the sacrifices of our men and women in uniform to defend freedom and democracy around the world so we can enjoy peace, prosperity and the blessings of liberty in our own land.

This is also an opportunity to show support for the men and women who currently serve in our armed forces by honoring the men and women who have served so courageously in times past.

May God bless all of our friends and neighbors who serve our country and our community.
