Brush On Shea “Legal” Fee Controversy
“Maybe They Should Ask The Planning Board
To Appoint An Attorney Who Has No Political Connections With The Township
Committee”, Says Paul Brush
“Furey Can’t Decide To
Pay A Bill Without Larsen Being Present - The Leadership Is Sorely Missing”,
Says Independent Mayoral Candidate
Dover Township:
Independent Mayoral candidate Paul Brush
charged today that “committee members are using their office to play
politics with the planning board attorney’s bills, and frankly, people are
fed up with it.”

"Doctor"
John Furey |
Brush’s comments were directed to Committeeman
“Doctor” John Furey’s refusal to pay bills submitted by world champion
payment voucher producer attorney Robert Shea in connection with Shea’s
billings to the township Planning Board, and Furey’s refusal even to
consider Shea’s bills unless fellow Democrat, Richard “The Accountant”
Larsen, is present to hold Furey’s hand when the bills come up.
Impossible To Figure Out
What’s Going On
Unless You Are An Insider
According to Brush, “It’s impossible to figure
out what’s going on with this committee unless you are on the inside.”
“Apparently, Mr. Furey can’t decide on whether
a bill should be paid without his partner, Mr. Larsen, being present, and
Mr. Fiure and Mr. Inteso can’t vote on Mr. Shea’s bills because of
‘conflicts of interest’ that are never explained.”
“That leaves one committee member to do the
business of five”, Brush noted.
Irresponsible To Hold
Payment Because
Of Unrelated Inquiry, Brush Asks?
“It is irresponsible for committee members to
assume that Mr. Shea’s bills for planning board work should not be paid just
because he is under investigation in an unrelated matter”, Brush contended.
“They were elected to make these decisions and
they should do their job”, he said in a prepared statement.
Does The Township Need A
Politically
Unconnected Planning Board Attorney?
“Given the ‘conflicts’ with Mr. Inteso and Mr.
Fiure, maybe they should ask the Planning Board to appoint an attorney who
is not so politically connected to the township committee”, Brush said.
Brush did not mention the recent Asbury Park
Press exposé of Shea’s bills to the planning board, the Ocean County
Vocational School, Dover Township Fire District #1 and the Toms River
Regional School District, which the gentle reader can access by
