OceanCountyPolitics DOT Commentator Bill Heyer Says Dover "Needs
Rec Commission Like Mayor 'Pay For Play' Brush Needs More Political
Patronage Jobs To Give Away To Campaign Contributors
Dear Editor:
Kudos to the Observer editorial titled:
"Dump Dover Recreation Commission Plan."
The put-upon taxpayers of Dover Township
need this folly of a commission like Mayor "Pay For Play" Brush
needs more political patronage jobs to give away to campaign
contributors and friends.
New Layer Of Political
Pros Feeding At The Public Trough
But that was the gist of the editorial
in the first place: to prevent a whole "new layer of political
professionals from feeding at the public trough." In other words, all
those people who contributed money to the new government election
campaigns, and are now awaiting a PAYOFF in the form of a job funded
with taxpayers money.
We Already Have 14
Parks
We already have a Parks and Recreation
Department that oversees Dover's myriad parks - 14 of them, according
to official Parks and Recreation WebSite.
Why Do We Need More
Bureaucrats?
Besides, doesn't Dover have more
important and pressing issues that require immediate attention, like
our archaic roads, for instance.
today, the traffic is often bumper to
bumper. Route 70 needs to be widened, and left turns added to insure
safety.
Me? I commute the Route 70 corridor with
one eye staring into my rear view mirror.
Traffic Lights &
Jughandles Not Getting The Job Done
Traffic lights and jughandles are not
getting the job done, now that Dover's population has swelled to near
100,000.
Another thing, I've noticed that sure
sign of spring: the ubiquitous bulldozer taking down even more of our
beautiful trees here in Dover.
What happened to the pledge, so
generously offered up by the various political candidates last
November, to try and put a stop to it.
Just Another Empty
Campaign Promise!
Oh, but they sure can create jobs for
themselves, and for their "friends," though, can't they??

Editor's Note: The new Brush
administration is barely 100 days old, and already, both the mayor and
council have broken nearly every campaign promise they made during the
campaign to establish the new government, a contingency that wi8ll
lead to higher taxes, more overcrowding and bigger and better traffic
jams. The public deserves better, and it is to be hoped that the
second and third hundred days are more productive and responsive to
the public than the first hundred have been. Our community simply
cannot afford any more major mistakes by the local government. the
honeymoon is over.
