Republican Budget Scam In Brick Township: Mayoral hopeful Steven Acropolis and the GOP Council majority have adopted a $58.9 million budget "balanced" with a huge increase in the appropriation from the township's surplus account, which now has only $1.25 million left in the till, after the surplus appropriation of $11,695,000.

$1.25 Million Would Be Too Little In Pine Beach

The $1.25 million residue would be too little in Pine Beach, but in a town the size of Brick, it is a species of recklessness and a complete abandonment of traditional Republican balanced budget principles.

Acropolis: Unbalance The Budget; Blame It On
Scarpelli When Taxes Have To Go Up Next Year

The scuttlebutt is that Acropolis planned to saddle Mayor Joe Scarpelli with the blame for a double whammy consisting of this year's implicit tax increase deferred and added on to next year's budget when there would be nothing left to balance the budget with.

Are Brick Taxpayers Really Dumb??

Acropolis must think Brick taxpayers are really dumb: Shades of Christie Whitman.

Is Scarpelli The Fiscal Conservative In Brick?

If Scarpelli handles the issue correctly, he could be perceived as the fiscal conservative, and Acropolis will be perceived, with some accuracy, as the reckless spender that conservative Republicans despise.

Is Acropolis The Reckless Spender?

Perception, especially regarding ambitious, posturing politicians who don't completely understand the consequences of their bad judgement, is everything.

Only The Federal Government Can Print Money

And furthermore, the George Bush deficit analogy doesn't apply BECAUSE, unlike the government of the Peoples Republic Of Gold Brick, the federal government can actually print money.

Acropolis Hired The Grants Consultant
Who Gets Very Few Grants?

This on top of the Acropolis Republicans' first really big mistake with the payoff-hire with taxpayers' funds from the same unbalanced spending budget, over Mayor Scarpelli’s objections, of the expensive pay-for-play “Grantsman” who appears to get very few grants.

Consultant Worked On Open Space In Toms River

Didn't this firm almost single-handedly wreck the open space program in Dover Township after Republican Club politicians hired them with taxpayers money because they are a potent source of campaign contributions instead of grants?

Only 555 Days Left Until The Brick Mayoral Election

The plot thickens and there are only 555 days until the 2005 Bricktown Mayoral election: stand in a circle folks; get your spit balls ready • • •
