Does Brush's Demand For A Full Time Salary Mean He Will Spend Full Time Screwing The Taxpayers??

Toms River:

Brush Demands Full Time Salary To Spend Full Time Betraying Taxpayers After Promising To "Cut Millions Of Dollars"

And now Brush, who promised to cut spending in Dover Township "by millions of dollars," has announced he wants a "full time" Mayor's salary that will enable him to give up a major part of his vast, personal non-existent professional accounting empire in order to spend full time at town hall ripping off the taxpayers.

The skeevey little deal with Mutter and Aldrich and Holzapfel where Holzapfel got appointed every year as the $6667 a month "labor attorney" who didn't have to do any work to get the monthly paycheck.

Mutter was on Holzapfel's legislative staff, so he couldn't vote for Holzapfel's appointment, and Aldrich had a share in some property owned by the principals in the Citta-Holzapfel law firm, so he couldn't vote for Holzapfel's appointment; but this was ok because there were enough additional rubber stamps (Wittmann, Geoghegan and Fox) to get Holzapfel reappointed every year.

Until 2001 after two Democrats (Russo and Furey) had pierced the  huge Republican registration advantage, making the Mutter and Aldrich conflicts a threat to Holzapfel's reappointment.

But, no problem: Big Jim just fired Mutter from his legislative staff on the strength of a dangling Judgeship Future, and had the Citta's buy out Aldrich's stake in the Colorado real estate for $1 plus other good and lawful considerations.

Then Township Attorney Ed Corrigan was "persuaded" to rule that Mutter and Aldrich didn't have a conflict any more, perhaps the most preposterous ruling (among many preposterous rulings) that Corrigan ever made in his seventeen years as township attorney.

Does this lead editorial mean the Press is going to put additional focus on Dover Township? There is nothing like a little public scrutiny and accountability to make public officials pay at least a minimal amount of attention to the public interest.

Full Time Salary Demand Is "Double-Scary"

This is a prospect the taxpayers of Dover Township will no doubt find double-scary, because every time Brush walks into town hall to hire another lawyer or "confidential" assistant (with the full and complete consent of the all-Republican Council), the impending tax increase gets marginally bigger.

Counterproductive And Damaging

Dollar for dollar,  the proposed full time salary demand could be the most counterproductive and damaging expenditure of public funds in Dover Township history.

The Republican Council, mainly composed of reasonably honest and forthright people, has sold out to the Axis Of Greed, and the basest and most disreputable political payoffs.

This has been done in some cases for money, in others for position and political promissory notes, and still others for their fifteen minutes of fame.

This is a contingency that the taxpayers of Dover Township will find double-scary, because every time Brush walks into town hall to hire another lawyer or "confidential" assistant, the impending tax increase gets bigger. This would be the most counterproductive and damaging expenditure of public funds in Dover Township history.

In a recent OceanCountyPolitics poll, readers said pretty convincingly that the Mayor's salary should be $25,000 a year; so we take the position that the Mayor's salary should be $25,000 a year.

Haelig Notes Mrs. Clement And Former Commissioners
Suppressed Public Documents And Falsified Public Record

DMUA Chairman Robert K. Haelig Jr.

Chairman Haelig said the removal of the microphone would be the near-equivalent "of suppressing another public record," noting that "the suppression of public documents and the falsification of public records" occurred previously at the DMUA at the hands of Mrs. Clement and former DMUA commissioners.

Mrs. Clement Appears To Confirm She Helped Falsify Public DMUA Records "To Save Mr. Haelig From Mr. Haelig" (See Video)

Mrs. Clement appeared to acknowledge her complicity in the "falsification of public records," but said this was done to "save Mr. Haelig from Mr. Haelig" in connection with the alleged "slander."

Mrs. Clement did not explain her "slander" comments - or how they related to the question of the removal of the OCP microphone.

Instead Of Leaving OCP Mike On Table, DMUA Ratepayers Will Pay For Individual Microphones For Everybody In The Room

In a typical bureaucratic response to what originally appeared to be a very simple problem (the Clements' punitive attitude towards the public's right to know), the commissioners overruled Haelig's objections and adopted a motion offered by former Planning Board Chairman and recently appointed DMUA commissioner Juan Bellu to remove the OCP microphone after obtaining a new public address system and buying individual microphones for everybody at the table.

New Public Address Equipment Purchase Could Be April 28th

Purchase of the new public address system and six bushels of live microphones will be considered at the regular monthly DMUA meeting on April 28th.    This article prepared for April 4, 2004.

Coming soon: Stay tuned for all of the gory details on falsification of official records by Mrs. Clement and former DMUA commissioners, undertaken on orders from the Clement GOP Club to validate the club's schedule for the 2002 Haines-Aldrich job switch which undermined the confidence of rank-and-file Republicans and the public in the integrity of the DMUA and the Clements and the local Republican Club.
