Sold Out More Loyal Democrats
Than Any Other Chairman In The History Of Ocean County, Fred
Potter Will Finally Resign And Go Away; Will Try To Name His
Own Replacement At Saturday Committee Meeting
Devious, double-dealing, not afraid to sell out any Democratic
candidate; wouldn't know how to handle a county Democrat
victory if he fell over it, Fred Potter will finally take pity
on his many admirers, and reportedly
will
resign the chairmanship of the county Democratic
Party, effective immediately.
Mrs. Frulio Is Unacceptable To The Potter
Crowd Because She Might Want To Win
|

Democratic
Vice-Chair
Nilda Frulio |
Potter would normally be obligated by the rules to turn the
reins over to Democratic County Vice-Chair Nilda Frulio, but
Mrs. Frulio has one glaring deficiency in the eyes of Potter
and his broom closet full of hero worshipers: she might try to
win, a contingency that would interfere with the normal flow
of judgeships and the few crumbs of other pay-to-play
patronage that develops out of the flowing robes of County
Republican Chairman George Gilmore.
One possible Potter
successor being talked about is union leader Wyatt Earp, who
is a close collaborateur of Potter's.
Mayor Corby May Be
Equally Unacceptable To The
Potter Crowd Because He Might Try To Win
|

Corby Might Also Try To Win If He Is
New Chairman |
Another possibility
would be Pine Beach Mayor Russell Corby, but he has the same
potential deficiency as Mrs. Frulio: he might try to win, a
flaw that Potter and his friends simply would not tolerate for
even a minute.
Potter threw three
freeholder candidates under the bus last year in return for
guarantees from Gilmore that the trickle of Democrat patronage
would not be shut down.
Trying For Saturday
Meeting
To Pick A Successor
Potter is trying to
arrange a county committee meeting for Saturday (April 16th,
time to be announced) where he hopes the normal collection of
rubber stamps and party stooges will be persuaded to name a
hand-picked successor who can be counted upon to carry on the
great Potter tradition of losing to the Republicans by bigger
and bigger margins each year.
