Coalition Of Independents, Reform Republicans and Reform
Democrats Organize To Recruit Candidates For Ward Council
Seats In Dover
Many Newspaper Editorials Denounced Boss System, Greedy Politicians
Who Trashed Good Government Ideals And Raised Taxes In New
Dover Government
According to representatives of
a new good government alliance called the Independent
Coalition To Rescue Dover Township, citizens of the community
are hopping mad about the way their new government has been
hijacked by a tiny group of political bosses and a legion of
political flunkies that looted and plundered the local
government since Mayor Paul Brush and the Republican Council
took office sixteen months ago.

organizers to put together an independent campaign for Dover
Township Ward Council seats to be contested in the November
election.
Rescue Dover
Township: Independents, Republicans & Democrats
The Rescue Dover Township
Coalition includes independent citizens who helped spark the
original petition drive to change the government here,
neighborhood residents upset with the new government, and
leaders of two political reform organizations formed last year
to restore good government principles in a structure that is
currently dominated by the boss system.
New Government
Is A Tragedy For The Taxpayers
Joseph E. Haelig, a reform
Republican, and Christopher Earle, a leader of the New
Democrats of Ocean County, said the new government "has become
a tragedy for the taxpayers, and a role model for bad public
policy."
Haelig and Earle noted that
Democrat Mayor Paul Brush and the seven member Republican
council "made numerous campaign promises before the election,
and broke all of them before the ink was dry on the election
returns.
Promised To
Cut Spending, They
Sponsored A Record Spending Increase
"Brush and the Republicans
promised to cut spending, but they approved the biggest
spending increase in the history of the local government," the
two reform leaders noted.
Promised
Stable Taxes, They
Sponsored A Near-Record Tax Increase
"Brush and the Republicans
promised to hold the line on taxes, but they sponsored one of
the largest tax increases ever," Haelig and Earle noted.

Broke Every
Campaign Promise,
Trashed Every Ethical Standard
"Brush and the Republicans made
direct promises on
no-bid professional contracts,
pay-to-play bribery, affordable housing policy, ethical
standards, waste in government and other issues that speak to
the performance we expect from public officials," Haelig and
Earle recalled.
"But they broke every promise,
trashed every ethical standard and paid off dozens of lawyers
and political cronies with useless township jobs and
appointments wasting millions of dollars belonging to the
taxpayers," they said.
Taxpayers Who
Have Been Ripped Off By
The Boss System Should Sign Up And Help
"We mean to turn this around by
electing independent candidates to the four ward seats which
are up this year, and we are appealing for help to residents
who have been ripped off by Brush and the Republicans over the
last sixteen months."
Any Registered
Voter Is Eligible To Be An
Independent Candidate And To Sign A Petition
"Any independent, undeclared,
Republican or Democrat registered is eligible to be an
independent candidate in this election, and any registered
voter is eligible to sign an independent candidate's
petition," they noted.
We need the help and support of
residents who believe the government can be honest, forthright
and productive - we believe that because the issues are so
well drawn, this opportunity may not come again for a
generation," they said.
