Party line Ward I council candidate Karen Davis has sent out
more campaign material, the accuracy of which has been
questioned by Berkeley Republicans who are supporting former
Councilwoman Janet Palino-Morey, Mrs. Davis' opponent in
Tuesday's GOP primary election.
Schroeder Bought Gilmore's Endorsement For $53,500
Davis appears with other GOP state and county candidates on
the party line designated by County Chairman George Gilmore,
including Robert Schroeder, the dark horse gubernatorial
candidate who bought Gilmore's endorsement for $53,500.

Richard Ciullo |
The $53,500 paid by Schroeder included a $2000 Schroeder check
to a Republican website operated by Central Regional School
Board member Richard Ciullo who uses the website to smear
critics of himself, Gilmore and Berkeley Republican Chairman
Carmen Amato, also a member of the Central Regional board.
Palino-Morey Is A Ciullo Smear Target

Janet
Palino-Morey |
One of Ciullo's recent smear targets has been Palino-Morey
whose supporters have pointed out that Davis has been a member
of the Berkeley School Board for eight years and has voted for
every spending increase and tax hike.

Dispensed GOP School Board Patronage
Ciullo is Vice president of the Berkeley Republican Club, the
president of which is Anthony DiPaola, another member of the
school board who voted for every spending and tax increase.

Kevin Askew, the Republican Club treasurer, is also a member
of the Berkeley School Board, making him the fifth Republican
club officer who is also a school board member.
Arrogance And Greed Of GOP School Board
Dynasty Helped Defeat School Budgets
Many Republicans have joined Democrats and independents in
charging the "dynasty" of Republican school board domination
is unhealthy for the community and the party, and the issue
was an important one in the recent school board election where
both school budgets were defeated by overwhelming margins and
two unknowns were nearly elected to seats on the board.
Davis Raised Taxes And Spending But Says
She Has A Program For "Tax Stabilization"
Davis says she has a program for "tax stabilization," but
opponents point out that "she never tried to do anything but
increase taxes during her long tenure on the school board."
Davis also says she has a plan for "meaningful ethics reform,"
but opponents say Davis is a "willing accomplice in Gilmore's
patronage distribution network which costs taxpayers tens of
millions of dollars extra every year to pay for useless jobs
for political cronies and no-bid professional appointments."
Does Ethics Reform Mean Getting The
$2 Million Back From Amato And The Yezzi's?
One of the "useless jobs" they point to is held by Chairman
Amato who was recently handed an $85,000 position as Director
of Printing & Graphics for the GOP freeholders, even though he
knows nothing about printing or graphics.
|

Yezzi Got $2 Million
From Berkeley Taxpayers |
Davis and GOP club president DiPaola were also instrumental in
handing almost $2 million in no-bid Berkeley school board
contracts to architect Massimo Yezzi, a Republican district
committeeman in Dover Township.

Berkeley Taxpayers Know Why GOP
Women's Federation President April Yezzi Is Smiling |
April Yezzi Is GOP Women's Federation President
Ciullo and Amato were instrumental in giving Yezzi's wife,
April, another superfluous job as "assistant business
administrator" in the Central Regional school system at a cost
to the taxpayers of more than $70,000.
April Smiles As Taxpayers Wince
April Yezzi is the president of the Ocean County Women's
Federation and was, like her husband's $2 million no-bid
contracts, an issue in the recent school board elections.
Don't Forget "Cooperative Governance"
Mrs. Davis, in fliers designed by Ciullo and Amato and mailed
to First Ward Republicans, also claims to be in favor of
"cooperative governance" and "environmental stewardship."
"Let's Get Back To Traditional Republican
Principles Instead Of Transparent Greed And Self Interest" Say
Palino-Morey Supporters
Palino-Morey's followers say they "don't have the vaguest idea
what Davis is talking about" and suggest "it's time we start
returning to traditional Republican principles like affordable
and economical local government instead of the transparent
baloney of people who trashed the Republican Party in favor of
pervasive greed that corrupted the process in our community."
