Coach Bob Nani |
Editor's note: the firing
of Toms River North Football Coach Robert Nani has triggered
speculation about why the most successful coach in the history of Toms
River football was summarily dismissed by the Republican-dominated
school board and Toms River Regional Superintendent, "SuperBoss"
Michael Ritacco.
Firing Inspired By Disgruntled Parents With Political Power?
One of the current players says Nani was fired because
disgruntled parents with political influence, whose children were not
quite good enough to play, persuaded Ritacco to fire Nani as
retribution.
"Politics, Power Brokers, Egomaniacs Still Rule"
Another former Toms River North player, Gary Charnel, says the problem
is pretty clear: "Politics, power
brokers and egomaniacs still rule" Charnel, now a successful
businessman in Nevada, says the incident will "tarnish Ritacco's
legacy as superintendent."
Latest Gurgle Of The Political Boss Regime

Boss Clement

Council Pres. McGuckin Esq. |
Rescue Dover
Township council candidates Walter Seymour and Bob Silva see the Nani
firing the same way, as the latest gurgle of the political boss regime
that has raised government spending, hiked taxes and turned government
in Ocean County into a repressive system of crony payoffs for
political flunkies and stooges, and personal smear and punishment for
those who don't toe the line for every whim of Gilmore, McGuckin,
Clement and Ritacco.
The
letters from Seymour and Silva and from Charnel have already appeared
in the Ocean County Observer:
Mr. Charnel's letter will appear
later in the week on OCP: The letter from the
Rescue Dover folks is presented here:
To the editor:
The firing of Coach Bob Nani by
political Super-Boss Mike Ritacco and the rubber stamp School Board,
is another good example of how Mr. Ritacco and his lawyer, GOP
Chairman Gilmore, have politicized the schools and every aspect of the
new Dover Township government.

GOP Chairman George Gilmore |
Anybody who shows the slightest bit of
independence from the Ritacco-Gilmore party line is either banished,
smeared, or both.
Is Boss Gilmore Most
Expensive Special Interest?
Take a look at the record of the past
several years, which shows the trust of the public and the public
interest has been repeatedly trashed in favor of spending enormous
sums of taxpayers’ money on special interests, especially those with
votes and political overtones:
Ritacco, Gilmore and the
Republican Council at first endorsed anj ambitious and cost-effective
$20 million open space program to purchase more than 1000 acres of
open space property in a partnership of the schools, Dover Township
and the DMUA for $6.7 million each, but they all reneged on the
project with the excuse that the schools would have to hold a
referendum, which Mr. Ritacco and the rubber stamp school board never
held.
Ritacco And Gilmore
Didn't Bother With Referendum
For $25 Million Early Out Pension Giveaway
But the need to consult the
public didn’t seem to bother Ritacco when he and the rubber stamp
Republican-dominated school board proceeded to give early retirements
to 180 lucky school employees in their fifties, bonding for $25
million without the referendum they said was required for $6.7 million
in open space dollars.
No Referendum On
Turf Bonds Approved By GOP Council
"Whatever Michael Wants, Michael Gets"
Recently, the taxpayers got another
taste of how much Mr. Ritacco and Mr. Gilmore respect them when the
Republican-controlled Township Council, without any public
referendum, approved $1.5 million in artificial turf bonds before all
the facts were known on what should have been a school budget line
item.

Commentator Bill Heyer |
“Whatever Michael wants, Michael
gets,” said commentator Bill Heyer a few weeks ago, adding that Mr.
Ritacco “had the whole township council running interference for him.”
GOP Council Running
Interference For Ritacco
This is the same council
that intends to proceed with the acquisition of $25 million in open
space purchases for 800 fewer acres than they could have bought for
the $20 million less than two years ago, in order to get the property
they had to condemn it so it would become useless land. Another
product of the boss system, with a similar cast of characters and a
violation of eminent domain rights. Still the council provides no
public referendum on how to spend the taxpayers’ money.
One Football Player
"Speechless"
One football player who
was “speechless” at Coach Nani’s firing, said: “It’s a bunch of
parents from the 2003 season. Their kids weren’t good enough to play
and they had some political power in the town.”
Biggest Egos On The Planet: Specialize In Tax
Increases And Useless Jobs For Political Cronies
The
folks responsible for firing Coach Nani for no good reason have the
biggest egos on the planet. They can’t share the hero-worship with
anybody. They gave us big spending and tax increases; they specialize
in handing useless jobs to political cronies and big financial
benefits for everybody but the taxpayers: they have an insatiable
desire to have all the power and glory for themselves.
Coach
Nani is their latest victim.
