McGuckin And Gilmore Try To Justify
The Unjustifiable By Lying Four More Times On OTB Scam In Toms River
The Ocean County Greed Machine and
their puppet officials in Toms River hid the OTB Betting and Boozing
application from the public for the entire 45 day public review
period so the public would have no input.
The application was approved under
totally corrupt circumstances and two appeals were filed with the
appeals division of superior court.

Berkeley
Mayor Jason Varano |
Haelig And Berkeley Mayor Varano
File Suit
One of the appellants is OCP Chief
Commentator Robert K. Haelig Jr. and the other is Mayor Jason Varano
who is suing on behalf of of Berkeley Township.
A recent Ocean County Observer article
quoted Republican County Chairman George Gilmore, pay-to-play
attorney for the Toms River School District and lawyer for the
gambling interests promoting the OTB, as saying his puppets on the
Toms River governing body “had no authority to put the OTB on public
referendum,” a proposal made by Haelig.
Toms River Council
Can Put OTB On Referendum
“This, of course, is another in string
of Gilmore lies, because every governing body has the general
authority to put any issue they want on referendum – and they could
still do it at this late date,” Haelig said today.
Gilmore also said Haelig is “a paid
consultant of Jason Varano; that’s why he’s involved in the appeal
process.”

Robert Haelig Jr.
GOP Primary
Candidate TR Council |
Haelig: "I Am Not A
'Paid Consultant'"
“This is another Gilmore lie,” Haelig
said. “I am not a paid consultant for Mayor Varano; I’m not a paid
consultant for anybody. I am in the printing business, and I filled
orders for signs and printed materials for various campaigns
including Mayor Varano, but I am not a paid 'consultant,' and
Gilmore and McGuckin both know that is the case.”
Pay-to-play lawyer Gregory McGuckin,
one of the Republican candidates for mayor in Toms River, echoed
Gilmore’s claim that Haelig is a “paid consultant” for Mayor Varano,
and added another charge that Haelig was a “paid consultant” for
Mayor Paul Brush and the Dover Democrats in the 2005 campaign.
Gilmore And McGuckin
Try To Draw
Attention Away From Their Greed
“Same lie, same answer,” said Haelig,
adding that Gilmore and McGuckin are trying desperately “to draw
attention away from their status as the two greediest lawyers on the
planet, as they try to continue monopoly control of the Toms River
governing body.”
“I have been drawing attention to
their greed for the past six years,” Haelig said, as these two law
firms suck about $6 million a year from the public treasury in the
form of no-bid contracts and an epidemic of influence peddling in
communities all over Ocean County, so the fourth lie is the charge
by McGuckin that I ‘have no interest in what is best for Toms
River.”
Republican Primary Voters Have "Clear
Shot" At The Greed Machine
“This is the the same greedy lawyer
who recently had Gilmore appoint his wife to a useless $70,000 ‘job’
on the county election board,” Haelig said. “This is why I am a
candidate for the Council, to give Republican primary voters a clear
shot at the political machine.”
Chairman Gilmore, unbelievably, is
also chairman of the Ocean County Board Of Elections, which allows
him to corrupt the election process as well as the OTB and various
other scams throughout the county.
