The
political machine gave us a 48% tax increase in three years in Toms
River, one of the largest tax increases in New Jersey. The big tax
hike came straight from two pay-to-play lawyers, county boss George
Gilmore and Councilman Gregory McGuckin, and their puppet Democrat
Mayor, Paul Brush.
The
machine promised spending cuts and tax stability, but gave us the
biggest spending increase in TR history as McGuckin put a lawyer
from Gilmore’s law firm, Melanie Donohue, on the machine’s Council
ticket.
The Fake
Council Republicans gave the Democrat mayor a 178% salary increase
for “cooperating” with them in handing useless no-bid contracts to
several dozen lawyers with political connections.
County Freeholders Waste $20 Million Every
Year On 200 Political Employees
The
county government has more than 200 unnecessary employees. Extra
county jobs waste $20 million annually. They closed the Novins
Planetarium, but kept unnecessary OCC “supervisors.” The planetarium
is down for another year because of the duplicity and ineptitude of
Freeholders Jack Kelly and Jim Lacey.
Total Extra Taxes $120 Million, $637 Per Family:
Dues To Gilmore Machine
On all
levels of government combined in Ocean County, the political machine
wastes more than $120 million a year EXTRA. It all ends up in our
tax bills as dues to Gilmore’s political machine. $637 is wasted per
Ocean County family every year as Gilmore and McGuckin loot public
agencies all over Ocean County.
Gilmore Never Told Taxpayers About OTB,
Wellness Center On School Property
They
never told us about Gilmore’s OTB Parlor until the 45 day review
period was over. Gambling at 18, alcohol at 21. This put thousands
of young people at risk, but elected officials never even discussed
the OTB. Gilmore compounded the corruption by installing one of his
firm’s lawyers, Melanie Donohue, as a council candidate.
The huge
proposed Wellness Center will be an obvious security problem, but
Ritacco and Gilmore won’t put it on referendum so the people can
vote on whether it ought to be on school property.
We have corrupt boss-controlled
government in Toms River. Voters have their first chance in 100
years to vote against the political machine in the Republican
Primary Election on June 5th: Column B.
