Joseph Haelig Is Chairman Of Traditional Republican Organization

Republicans Organize Against Corrupt Ocean County Political Machine That Cheats Taxpayers Every Day

Joseph E. Haelig is the Chairman of the Traditional Republican Organization of Ocean County.

Former Republican Freeholder Candidate Suzanne Penna is Co-Chair and long-time Republican Don Lombardi is Secretary of the of the traditional Republican group that organized last December for the purpose of providing an alternative to the corrosive and corrupt political machine headed by pay-to-play lawyer George Gilmore.

"Our mission as traditional Republicans is to put the political machine out of business in Ocean County so Republicans can, once again, be proud of their party and the fundamental good government principles and values our party should always stand for," said Haelig, Penna and Lombardi in a statement.

Following Is A Statement of Principles and Reorganization For The Traditional Republicans Which Was Approved Recently By The Organization's Trustees:

 Traditional Republican Organization Of
Ocean County Statement Of Principles

“Traditional Republicans For
Reform And Accountability”

Republican Government should be based on the traditional Republican values of transparency, full disclosure, cost-effective spending, fair and reasonable taxation, and respect for the environment and for the basic citizenship rights guaranteed by the constitution and the Declaration of Independence.

For the past several years in Ocean County, these values have been corrupted and trampled by a corrosive political machine that has raised taxes all over the county and exercised an unparalleled level of greed to enrich a small group of lawyers and other “professionals” who control the political process to generate political payoffs.

We are opposed to the political machine and its consistent betrayal of Republican values. The current Republican leadership has abandoned the taxpayers and voters.

It is the purpose of this Traditional Republican Organization to work for the reforms that will replace the political machine with men and women of integrity and purpose; who will run the government on all levels so the citizens and the taxpayers come first.

This Traditional Republican Organization was started in December of 2006, and we ran candidates in Toms River and Ocean County for Mayor, Council and Freeholder.

Our candidates earned 45% of the vote in Toms River, and more than 37% of the vote county-wide. We are encouraged by these results because the vote was a protest against the abuses of the Political Machine which, financed by the New Jersey Republican State Committee, outspent our campaign by more than 10 to 1.

This declaration is a formal statement of policy, and confirmation that we are organized as follows:

Membership is open to any person who believes in basic Republican values who is not a member of any organization controlled by the Political Machine, and is willing to support us on the issues.

We have elected 15 Trustees who have selected a Chairperson and Co-Chair to preside over meetings of the organization, and a Secretary to keep necessary records. Additional trustees will be added as more members become associated with us.

Everyone in our organization will be regarded as a leader and spokesperson for our organization and for the basic values we represent in the Republican Party.

There are no dues or fees for membership. Donations are always welcome.

Meetings will be held as desired by the membership.
